Hampton Shipyard has been part of the East End’s boating culture for over a century—beginning with early marine activity along Weesuck Creek in the 1880s. The Scopinich family established the modern shipyard in 1956 and operated it for generations through 2024. Today, new local ownership is working to preserve and revitalize the property, while Kevin Scopinich continues its long standing marine service tradition.

The Hampton Shipyard is now owned by five local boating enthusiasts who share a deep connection to the waters of the East End.
As longtime residents and boaters, they purchased the property in 2024 with a shared goal: to preserve the historic character of the shipyard while ensuring it remains a vibrant working waterfront for generations to come.
One of the most important parts of that vision is continuity.
The marina service business will continue to be operated by third-generation Scopinich family member Kevin Scopinich, continuing the family’s long tradition of marine service at the shipyard.
The new owners see themselves as stewards of a special waterfront property, committed to preserving its maritime heritage while thoughtfully improving the marina and surrounding environment.
